Certainly an interesting view! Is this image supposed to have been taken in YNP?

Well that bear has an ear tag, so with a bit of work, it would seem to be able to be tracked to see if it is actually a YNP grizzly, looking at the tag, I would suspect it might be in Canada.
With my limited knowledge of worldly subjects, I could be!

I’ve heard that YNP bears have red tags, GTNP bears have yellow tags (?), and forest service bears get green tags, so this could be in the park.Cool shot!

Now that’s a different perspective you don’t see often in a griz photo. Pretty neat!

I’m told that Doug Smith took this in Hayden Valley during a wolf surveying flight.

I mostly follow things like YNP. I have no need of friends. They waste my time and I couldn’t hang out here so much.

I wonder if this wouldn’t be a shot off the bridge over the Yellowstone River near Roosevelt? If so, you’d think a thousand other people would have one almost identical.

If I were guessing, I would concur, Steve. Doug has the cool camera on the wolf aeroplane.

Here’s the story of the circumstances surrounding the photo (and it explains why the east end of the Mary Mountain Trail is closed once again).http://www.kxlf.com/news/incredible-photo-catches-stare-down-between-photographer-and-grizzly/]KXLF Story

I wonder if that could be the infamous Preacher bear? I don’t remember if he was tagged or not. Daryl (too many irons) would Know.

It looks a bit like the big boy who was hanging out near the meadows south of Canyon a few years back. That one had ear tags as well. No idea if it’s the same one though.Max

They had the video on KTVK news tonight in Billings, and yes they did credit Doug Smith and stated a pack of wolves was just out of the frame waiting their turn.

It looks to me like he was in a chopper, not a plane from the shape of the shadow.

The shadow is from the Bison and the bear
