In late August you might still catch the last of the bison rut. Watching and listening to those behemoths is fun, too! Elk rut takes place in September. It is guaranteed that you will see one or two bulls and their harems in and around Mammoth ( don’t get too close, they’re very aggressive that time...

Sorry for the late reply. I'm in the Park right now and connectivity is sketchy. My very favorite class is Wolf Week, I've taken it twice. I have taken 8 field seminar classes through the Institute, 6 of them in the winter and have never been disappointed. The instructors are knowledgeable and enthusiastic. You certainly begin to experience the Park in an entirely different way. Staying at the Buffalo Ranch is something you would never...
