Sept 21-Sept 28

Ok so yes future dates. I was here in May and didn’t give a trip report. This is my way of committing. I got some good shots so 399, Blondie and their cubs. I am hopeful to get some comparison shots, bugling elk and some Moose. Planned 3 days Tetons, 4 days Yellowstone.

Re: Northern part of park in early Oct

If you really want to see a Great Grey I suggest a trip to Minnesota in late January. I was able to see and photograph more than 10 different owls as well as a Northern Hawk Owl and 2 Boreal Owls. Having said that, I did note a great grey this May off of Moose-Wilson road. None in YNP. I was up at t...

Re: So, what's the park like this year?

I noticed the buses too. I was there the last week in May. Very bad. We had stopped at inspiration point and saw 9 of the buses parked. We came back later. Too many people. If you go to these places early am and later afternoon, you miss the buses.

Re: RIP River Road

I was there on this road about the time you posted this. It is open to Bar B C Ranch on the south and open to the north to where it branches. You can go further north and down to the snake river at the the Y in the road, with the right leg of the Y being closed. It looks like they could really open ...

Nice! I just switched to Sony as well and love it. I did buy a raffle ticket anyway for a great cause!

Re: Information Wanted - Canon 500 f/4 L IS 11 Worth all of the Hype?

I would recommend googling reviews and looking at You tube. They have much good information out there from reputable photographers. I had decided on the 600 II, but at the last minute switched to Sony. You can pick up good quality used copies from Keh, Adorama, B &H as well as Bird as Art blog has a...

Re: Alternate routes in

When you come in on 26, you start to get views of the Tetons as you are coming down out of the mountains. I find it one of the most beautiful views in the world. Certainly beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but it is a stunning view.

Re: Northern Hawk Owl

I was there on Jan 31, Feb 1, and Feb 3. I was fortunate enough to find 4 GGO's, the NHO, a Boreal Owl and a variety of little birds. I was disappointed we didn't see any mammals.I was hoping for Pine Martin and Porcupine. I have been seeing they have been scarce since then.

Re: Northern Hawk Owl

Great images! I just found my first NHO in Sax-Zim Bog last week. They are cool. Once I get set-up to post images here I will.
