Re: Electric Peak and Sportsman Lake - August 14, 2018

The young elk were having the most fun, but some adults were joining in. I wanted to stay even longer and continue to watch them, but alas I had to leave to get to our next campsite.

Electric Peak and Sportsman Lake - August 14, 2018

Headed up to the northwestern part of the park for my next backpacking trip. This was originally supposed to be a five day, four night trip that would begin at the Bunsen Peak Trailhead and would include a two night stay at campsite 1G4 on the Gardner River, climbing Electric Peak on our second day ...

Buffalo Meadows - July 29, 2018

Well, to finish off the report on our trip to Little Firehole Meadows and our subsequent day hikes, on our third day, we had to move campsites from 0D2 back down the trail to 0D3 at the Little Firehole River Falls. I had originally requested, back in April, campsite 0D2 for three nights but someone ...

Re: Plateau Lake - July 27, 2018

I'm glad everyone enjoyed the write-up and I apologize for not creating the trip report closer to the time that I actually did the trip. Besides the day hike on this trip to Buffalo Meadows that I still need to report on, I have a trip to Electric Peak and Sportsman Lake that I completed in August, ...

Plateau Lake - July 27, 2018

On July 27th, my family and I headed into the backcountry to camp at campsite 0D2 along the Little Firehole Meadows. We would be staying at 0D2 for two nights then moving camp to OD3 for our third and final night. The purpose of this trip was on day two, to day hike up onto the Madison Plateau and t...

Re: Mirror Plateau Backpacking Trip

Beartooth Tucker - Thanks rzrpirate - Thanks also Kat - You're welcome and I hope you enjoyed the report. The truth is, not many backpackers get to see the Mirror Plateau south of the Specimen Ridge Trail, Upper Pelican Creek, Raven Creek or Lovely Pass. I'm beginning to get a little long in the to...

Re: Mallard and De Lacy Lakes - June 30, 2017

Thanks lah . Mallard Lake makes for a short (quick) backpacking trip, which suited us this time, and I think it would make for a splendid day hike also. As for the mosquitoes, while they bite me, I don't have any reaction to the bite itself. They never itch afterwards and you'd be hard pressed to kn...

Mallard and De Lacy Lakes - June 30, 2017

I just realized that these forums were back up, so I apologize for the delay in posting this report. On June 30th, I backpacked into Mallard Lake with my daughter for a three night stay at campsite 0B3 on the east side of the lake. On day two, we hiked off-trail, east to De Lacy Lakes, where we pass...
