It does sound like a strange trip. Even in Florida the weather was very different this year until mid July. Messed up my April, May and June fishing. Maybe they need to hire some different campground host. I will take it :D

Is it possible to match a zoom from a 35 SLR telephoto zoom to a digital camera? If yes where would be the best place to do this? I'd rather not just order a camera without test fitting it if possible. TIA

I had great luck with all my reservations stops just switching forward and even came out better in Yellowstone as I was able to get in Canyon CG. I ran into the same problem on the NF campgrounds along the Beartooth as you will. They are not open that early. Great camping but just too early. That's how I ran across Big Moose Resort.

Like you, I have camped in Yellowstone quite a few times and have never had reservations except our first trip at Fishing Bridge. We have always just arrived early and always gotten a site. Only once I was tent camping, which gives you the best chance, otherwise I was in a small motorhome Of course ...
