Re: July 11-15

I hear ya, Mike..........Sure wish we could go back to the good ole days.... when Yellowstone bears outnumbered people, you could hike for miles and never see another person and you could sit at the counter at the Canyon Soda Fountain and eat giant-size pancakes for less than $5 that were bigger tha...

Re: So, what's the park like this year?

You're right on the money, Mike! I went to Artist Point, south of Canyon in mid June. With the high water and all the rain that the Park was getting, I thought I might be able to capture an early light, morning shot of a beautiful rainbow, hanging over the Falls. We had just started walking down the...

Re: 35 SLR and digital compatability

rzrpirate, my best advice is to call B & H Photo in NY (they have a toll free phone number). They sell older 35mm gear and they also sell a Novo lens adapter that possibly might work. But it's going to depend on the make of your digital camera and the lens. Seems to me that I read that the adapter w...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Finally broke down and decided to watch the last show of Yellowstone Live. I was really hoping that Nat Geo would get it right this time considering all the negative reviews on Part One. But instead of redeeming itself, Nat Geo merely added insult to injury. I mean really.....enticing and feeding a ...

Re: Park Rangers attitudes towards bears in Glacier/Yellowstone

Thought I'd mention 2more things. Since we're currently in the fire season, you may want to keep tabs on the Bacon Rind fire. It's not all that far from West Yellowstone. Looks like there's going to be a public meeting in West Y. for residents in the area to give them the latest info on the fire. Th...

Re: Park Rangers attitudes towards bears in Glacier/Yellowstone

billandkaren, I'm happy that you had a wonderful trip to Glacier but you may want to consider contacting the Glacier Super or Chief Ranger about your grizzly bear encounter on the trail and the "no-big deal" reaction that you got from the gal at the ranger station. That was inexcusable and the Chief...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Sadly, this is exactly what happens when National Geographic and not the cinematographer/photographer takes editorial control over all the original video footage. Instead of presenting an honest look at wildlife in their natural Yellowstone environment, the Nat Geo video editing staff turns the fina...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Saw the first part last night. What a huge disappointment....from start to finish!! Not only was it a technical disaster (mics weren't working properly) but much of the show did not appear to be "live", IMO. The show was packed with lame comments from the hosts who obviously knew little, if anything...

Re: June 13 - July 12th

Max, you may want to re-read my post. I did not say that the declining cutthroat population was the only reason for the lack of my wildlife and bird sightings on my recent Park trip. But, IMO, it was a contributing factor. This year, I think that the high water level, probably contributed more than ...

Re: Lost cutthroat affecting so many other animals

Linda, thanks for posting the link to the article. It's an important article that everyone should read, especially, for folks who love to watch/photograph Yellowstone birds. I even included the link to the article in my recent trip report because I saw so few ducks and birds this year on my recent t...
