Re: Information Wanted - Canon 500 f/4 L IS 11 Worth all of the Hype?

I'm not sure if it's worth the sizable investment to get the version II if you already have the version I, unless size and weight are a considerable issue for you. In my case, I went from the 500mm vI to the 600mm vII. If I wanted to stick with 500mm, I probably wouldn't have gotten rid of the old o...

My Yellowstone Animal Wishlist

http://www.maxwaugh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/weaselshorttailed0816ys11.jpg Having traveled to the park for nearly 20 consecutive years for photography, I've seen a lot of animals. But there are some species that have eluded me, and comprise my Yellowstone Wishlist. I finally checked off the s...

Re: Northern Hawk Owl

Bummer. I've also heard about the GGOs and the Boreals (the latter of which would be the main draw for me), which may draw me there some day. As much as it would be nice to wait for an irruption year, I imagine it would get a little insane then too.

Costa Rica 2013

I've been fortunate to visit Costa Rica a number of times over the years, and will be heading back to lead a tour next month. In 2013 I got to spend a full month there. I was leading a couple of tours, and I also had some time in between to fit in some scouting. This ended up being the best trip I'v...

http://www.maxwaugh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/sheep2236.jpg February 5, 2018 FOXPLOSION! After the largely uneventful final day in the Yellowstone interior, our group was hopeful that a change of scenery would bring about more photo opportunities. The northern range did not disappoint in that ...

http://www.maxwaugh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/eagle4904.jpg February 1 & 2, 2018 I had a short break from the park, as I had to say goodbye to my first tour group on Thursday, and I picked up and met my next group on Friday. February 3, 2018 For this tour, the order of our activities is revers...

Re: Yellowstone Winter 2018 Trip Report, Days 9 & 10 (1/30-31)

http://www.maxwaugh.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/eclipse4349.jpg January 30, 2018 Day Two in the interior was gray, windy and snowy. Really windy. We decided to avoid the east side of the park, since Hayden Valley and the road near the Lake have been closed recently at times due to snow drifts. I...

They’re organized and punctual. I could not rely on Mother Nature as much today though. It was a gray day, with random bouts of ...

Good stuff, John. The first lion portrait is great, and I like your monitor shots. Nice find with the wild dogs too.
