Really nice shot of the bull exhibiting the Flehmen Response (or perhaps bugling?). The precipitation adds some nice texture.

He was bugling. There was another bull about a half mile away that was also bugling.

Re: Flickr new account policy announced...

Thanks. One thing I'm confused about with Flickr is if they count your "Auto Upload" album against your 1000 photo limit. This album is all that is putting me over the 1000 photo limit. I'm not sure how I ever got this album or how to get rid of it. Do you have the Flickr app on a phone or tablet ?...

Brief Estes Park trip pics

I recently was able to spend a couple days in Estes Park and RMNP. It began to snow just as we arrived on Oct. 7, and snowed lightly for the two days we were there. We were able to hike around Bear Lake and Sprague Lake. On the way back into town, we ran across a big elk bull guarding a harem of twe...

Re: Flickr new account policy announced...

It's probably only a big deal to those who use Flickr for storage. I ditched Pro last year when I finally realized all I was paying for was storage I didn't need. I just went through and culled a number of images to get below 1000, and I'll do it again down the road. I use Flickr as another way of ...

Flickr new account policy announced...

As suspected, Flicker has announced some new account policies. Free accounts will be limited to 1000 pics. If you want more than that, it will be $50/year for a Pro account, which I guess is not too bad. I'd be interested to hear people's thoughts on this.

Yes, this used to be a "happening" forum before the hack attack. YNet Forum has been an invaluable resource for me over the years, and I greatly appreciate the efforts of those who created it and raised it from the dead after the attack! I'm not on Facebook, so I'm all in favor of a resurgence here.

Re: Reflections On The Fatal Grizzly Bear Mauling In Wyoming

Yes, interesting read, and I'm so sad for Uptain and his family. From what I've seen, the grizzlies in and around YNP, have little or no fear remaining of humans. When I've been in the park, I mostly stay along the main roads, and the grizzlies I've seen appear to be mostly oblivious to human activi...

Re: Federal Judge Delays Grizzly Hunt Today.... for 14 Days

Wow, the judge held that the court "presumes that remedies at law are inadequate"??? Huh? Maybe the next time a cop pulls me over, I'll try that one on him: "Officer, I understand that I was speeding, but remedies at law are inadequate, and that the balance of interests favor you letting me go ". Wh...

Re: Another Reason not to Hunt Grizzlies?

I'd say that's a reasonable question to ask. And to go even a bit farther, are they intelligent enough to be cognizant of when and where they need to be afraid of humans? IOW, are they smart enough to learn that when they are in YNP, humans are not a threat, but when they stray outside the park, hum...

Consequences for man who taunted YNP bison...

Glad he is facing consequences, but do you think 130 days in jail is appropriate? How much will taxpayers have to cough up to keep him in jail that long? Thoughts?
