Re: Federal Judge Delays Grizzly Hunt Today.... for 14 Days

Wow, the judge held that the court "presumes that remedies at law are inadequate"??? Huh? Maybe the next time a cop pulls me over, I'll try that one on him: "Officer, I understand that I was speeding, but remedies at law are inadequate, and that the balance of interests favor you letting me go ". Wh...

Re: Another Reason not to Hunt Grizzlies?

I'd say that's a reasonable question to ask. And to go even a bit farther, are they intelligent enough to be cognizant of when and where they need to be afraid of humans? IOW, are they smart enough to learn that when they are in YNP, humans are not a threat, but when they stray outside the park, hum...

Consequences for man who taunted YNP bison...

Glad he is facing consequences, but do you think 130 days in jail is appropriate? How much will taxpayers have to cough up to keep him in jail that long? Thoughts?

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Finally broke down and decided to watch the last show of Yellowstone Live. I was really hoping that Nat Geo would get it right this time considering all the negative reviews on Part One. But instead of redeeming itself, Nat Geo merely added insult to injury. I mean really.....enticing and feeding a...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

I was half way expecting an eagle to swoop down and snatch that owl they so ceremoniously released back into the wild. Also, I didn't like the way they seemed to romanticize the wolves as playing, when a group of them were singling out one other wolf and rather brutally attacking it in order to esta...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Yeah, it was pretty lame. Also, did it look to anyone else like the location of that shot of the two announcer guys by a wooden structure was that barn on Mormon Row near Jackson? If so, that's a long way from YNP.

Edit: I see on tonight's show that is not the case.

Re: Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

I was there Labor Day weekend last year and we were treated to a grizzly bear confrontation in Hayden over a carcass. We also saw several black bears up along Dunraven. One scrambled up a pine tree to eat the pine cones. The bison rut was pretty much done. The park was crowded but not as bad as in ...

Thanks for all the replies and info. I'm now looking at that week of Labor Day, or possibly the next week.

Re: Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

The elk rut usually starts around the the second week of September but it is often weather dependent. It often needs to cool off a bit. As far as crowds they will thin a little because many kids will be back in school by September but it will still be crowded. Bears are busy stuffing themselves for...
