Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

I was half way expecting an eagle to swoop down and snatch that owl they so ceremoniously released back into the wild. Also, I didn't like the way they seemed to romanticize the wolves as playing, when a group of them were singling out one other wolf and rather brutally attacking it in order to esta...

Re: YELLOWSTONE LIVE - 4 DAY EVENT 4-5-2018 NAT GEO CHANNEL

Yeah, it was pretty lame. Also, did it look to anyone else like the location of that shot of the two announcer guys by a wooden structure was that barn on Mormon Row near Jackson? If so, that's a long way from YNP.

Edit: I see on tonight's show that is not the case.

Re: Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

I was there Labor Day weekend last year and we were treated to a grizzly bear confrontation in Hayden over a carcass. We also saw several black bears up along Dunraven. One scrambled up a pine tree to eat the pine cones. The bison rut was pretty much done. The park was crowded but not as bad as in ...

Re: Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

Thanks for all the replies and info. I'm now looking at that week of Labor Day, or possibly the next week.

Re: Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

The elk rut usually starts around the the second week of September but it is often weather dependent. It often needs to cool off a bit. As far as crowds they will thin a little because many kids will be back in school by September but it will still be crowded. Bears are busy stuffing themselves for...

Late August-early Sept. trip -- things to know?

Hi all, I've only been to YNP in early June and once in July. I'm now looking at visiting in late August and/or early September. I'm not a hiker, so I mainly get to see things from positions that I can drive to, or are withing a short hike. I've mainly focused on the northern areas of the park, i.e....

No, I haven't heard anything from Flickr.
Dang, I had to quit using Photobucket, now maybe I won't be able to use Flickr.
Thanks for the heads-up.
Same here, and before Photobucket, I was using Webshots, which also went kaput. Now using Flickr. We'll see what happens.

Re: Vacation ideas

If you're interested in Colorado, a nice place to visit for a few days is Ridgway, which is on the west side of the San Juan Mountains. We rented a very nice house there for a reasonable price. The nice thing is that Ridgway is near Ouray and Telluride, so we were able to visit both. Yankee Boy Basi...

Re: Oct. 4, 2017

My first day of a short trip. I missed the Wapiti pack on a carcass west of Canyon. Went over Dunraven for my first time this year, but I didn't see anything. Went west to Phantom Lake with no success, so I turned back east. A few young bighorns at the picnic area, one of which only had one horn wi...

Re: Yellowstone and Grande Teton Favorites - Part 2

This Fox emerged from the grass and walked right up by our car as we were driving on Pacific Creek Road, June, 2017. It was not until I viewed the pics that I saw that it had lunch in its mouth. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4240/35207531040_a6b95cfca3_b.jpg DSC_1211 by MDTshots , on Flickr https:/...
