Bear Attack on the Aug 23rd

A 12 year old boy was injured by a grizzly sow with a cub in the Divide Trail area.The child was with three other family member when he ran from the bear and was knocked to the ground and sustained some injury.

Divide Trail area now closed while the NPS investigates

Went over notes and pics from my last October trip(last 10 days of the month)I don't remember seeing black bears but did see grizzlies at Pebble Creek,Blacktail Ponds,Sow with cub in Hayden Valley.It was too late in the season for Mt. Here is a opinion/rant you won't hear in a trip report.I almost always stick to the Northern Range,I am there to photograph wildlife but the last trip I had to play tour guide for folks who had never been to the park,no problem I'll take them to the usual spots,Norris,Canyon,and of course Old Faithf...

I don't think it's because of some sort of ban(I know,this is California,we ban everything),it's probably due to the shipping carrier that the retailer uses does not ship hazmat items,or hazmat across state lines. Sounds like a great trip Dorothy,seeing baby pronghorns is a great sighting,mother pronghorns are so good at hiding their young in the sage.if you had been in the park earlier when the bear activity was higher you would not have seen the baby pronghorns or the baby moose.That is always the trade off...
