Wow, that's the thing that makes YNP so compelling -- you just never know when or where something very dramatic might happen. Nothing like this is likely to happen with wildlife in most any other NP, with the possible exceptions of GTNP and Glacier.

Or maybe one of the Alaska parks.

I had to leave the park about 1PM to get to Bozeman. Spent the half-day in Canyon-Hayden-Bridge Bay-Mary Bay. Saw nothing. Trip over.

Yellowstone has not been particularly crowded. It was getting busier every day though.

Went out towards the Lamar and passed a work truck that had gone off the road and flipped over somewhere near Blacktail, I think. Saw a lot of stuff, couldn't photograph much of it. I was in the Hayden just past Grizzly Overlook at 5:30AM and had two wolves cross the road right in front of my car. Much too dark to take pics. Arrived too late to see them crossing again in daylight by just minutes twice afterward. Got pics of a ...

Spent all day on the carcass at Slough Creek. The same wolf fed on it for an hour in the morning and 45 minutes in the evening. Also got a coyote in the early evening.
