The Original Rosie Black Bear

After seeing everyone's pix of Rosie and her cubs over by Tower this year, I thought that some of you might enjoy seeing and meeting the very first Rosie and her two cubs, Yogi and Boo Boo. My most memorable encounter with Rosie happened in September 2004. Hubby and I were visiting some friends who ...

Re: Muskrat and Merlin

Great find on the Merlin, Rik. Yellowstone is right on the edge of its breeding grounds. Could be why most people don't see them very often in the Park. Great shot of a very uncommon bird in the GYE....congratulations! Nice shot of the muskrat, too. I used to see a muskrat not far from the Indian Cr...

Re: Pine Marten at Bridge Bay

What a find, Rik. Congratulations! And, to the forum member from WY as well. I've been going to the Park for 40+ years and I've only managed one sighting. The little rascal was scampering down a tree over in the Petrified Tree area. It came and went so fast that I never even got a shot. So I'm still...

Re: Wednesday May 29. Day 7

Rick, had I known that you and your family were going to be in the Greater Yellowstone, I would have invited you to stop by for a visit. Today was absolutely gorgeous and every critter in our area was out and about, enjoying the warmer, sunny weather. We had 6 whitetail yearling fawns frolicking in ...

Re: Gear Question

Hey, Rick, just wanted to wish you a successful Park trip. Looking forward to seeing your 2019 trip reports and pix, especially, the ones taken with your 300/f2.8. That lens was at the top of my lens wish list in 2015, but I ended up getting the 400/f4 prime because of the weight difference. So I'm ...

Re: May 24...last (half) day

Rik, except for the bad weather, which is still plaguing the northern Beartooth Front, I think that you had a very successful trip all things considered. Thanks for posting your trip reports...rejoyed reading every one of them. I'm sorry that I couldn't make my Park trip. Would have enjoyed meeting ...
