Re: May 20 YNP

There are several areas in the Park that are bear management areas and they're often closed in the spring while the bear management folks are conducting research, tagging and counting bears. The bear management areas usually open sometime in June but sometimes later, depending on the level of bear a...

Re: May 20

Holy Karumba, Rik! Sounds like you're finally being rewarded for all your patience, persistence and for all the bad weather that Mother Nature has been dumping on you. I'm tickled that your day was so productive. May you be blessed with more critter sightings and more photo ops on your way back to B...

Re: May 18

Sorry that the Tetons weren't very productive for you, Rik. I know how frustrated and discouraged you must be. If it's any consolation, I can recall a few years when I never even saw a bear at Slough Creek or any place else in the Park, for that matter. Sad to say that some years are just like that....

Re: May 17

Rik, thanks for the report. Did you get any pix of the stranded calf at the Confluence? I saw something similar happen back in the 80's at Slough Creek. It was an incredible sight. A mama moose was leading her calf across the Creek, when the strong current, without warning, lifted the calf right off...

Re: May 15

Looks like everyone is having "beary" good luck in the Park right now. Keep your trip reports and pix coming....they're great! Many thanks to everyone for taking the time to share your sightings. Next week is looking fairly rainy but that shouldn't affect the wildlife. So enjoy the magic of Yellowst...

Re: May 11 and 12

Rick, I usually order the "chore boot"s online from Walmart. Shipping is usually free and the package is delivered right to our house. Rain boots have gotten pretty popular the past few years. So if you've got a Walmart near by, consider giving them a call. Or you might even call/check with the Walm...

Re: May 11 and 12

Well, once again, it looks like I'm going to miss you while you're in the Park, Rick. Got lots going on right now, so we aren't going to the Park until mid June. Hope you have a great time. Looking forward to seeing your trip report and pix. BTW, about ten years ago I started wearing rubber high-top...
