May 21 Nature's Engineers in the Construction Zone

I just read Nikon's post and it shows how different the park can be in different sections on the same day. We wanted to hike today so on a whim we decided to check out the Bacon Rind trail on the west side of the park. Beautiful hike despite last year's fire with a fresh coating of snow on the trees...

May 16 Sly as a Fox

We were in the park several days this past week. On Tuesday we hiked the Rescue creek trail. Saw pronghorn, a pair of sandhills, a redtail hawk, and most surprising a sora rail. Bears in the usual spots. Went back in on Thursday and got to see a mom and yearling black bear play fighting on a lower l...

Re: May 18

Rik, Karen and I were also in the Tetons Saturday afternoon. We saw a moose along Moose Wilson rd as we were driving in and another one out behind Jackson Lake Lodge. A few elk and a lone bison. We hiked out to Emma Matilda Lake and saw two elk, a pair of sandhills, a ruffed grouse, and a bald eagle...

Sorry. I've been using my "smart" phone for posting and weather forecast. It obviously has a learning disabilitiy 😉. Next week the advanced forecast calls for cooler and somewhat rainy conditons.

May 11 and 12

We are at our place in Idaho for a couple weeks and have gone into the park the past two days. Bears are everywhere on the loop from Old Faithful to Mammoth to Lamar. 26 different bears and an additional 7 repeats. Highlights include grizzly sow and two yearling cubs at the Slough Creek bowl (Just E...

Re: April 17th Through April 29th

Great report. Karen and I are here now and I will post a trip report for the last couple of days. But just to let you know, the weather has drastically changed to summer like conditions. No rain in the forecast for the next two weeks. I hope this doesn't indicate a hot dry summer.
