Re: Got my ticket for May

Hey, Rik. Been thinking about doing a short solo trip in May, weather permitting. Sadly, May has always been a weather transition month in SC Montana, so I need to keep a close eye on the weather before I can make any trip commitment. Will make a post if I can make the trip when you and some of the ...

Lunar Eclipse and Blood Moon

Did you see the lunar eclipse and the blood moon on January 20th? If you missed it, here are a couple of shots taken from our patio in SoCal. The sky was gin clear that night so the shots turned out fairly well. Enjoy~ https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7870/47229880781_714eb281bb_z.jpg P1060535 by Paul...

Re: Recent PNW Bird Photos

Lovely shots, Max! The lunar eclipse was visible in SoCal about the same time it was visible in Seattle. Sat on our patio for about 3 hrs. taking pix about every 30 minutes. The sky was gin clear that night so I managed to get some decent shots. Sent a few pix to the grand kids so they could see wha...

Re: July Visit -- Planning Help

The first thing you should know is that you must have a back country camping permit before you can camp in the Yellowstone back country. The permit identifies a specific Yellowstone back country camp site along with specific camping dates. The Park needs to approve your permit application and your c...

Re: Your Best of 2018

Liked very one of your shots, Linda! You really did a great job.....you, too, Rik. Your shots of the GGO are superb!! I'm still trying to get some decent in-flight hummingbird shots. In fact, I think that if I'm patient, I might even be able to get one of the little rascals to perch on my finger. So...

Re: Comments Welcome: Why the lack of Interest or Participation on this website?

Don't get discouraged, Pugman. Historically, participation is usually fairly slow from the late fall and through the winter. But when March rolls around, most of the Yellowstone diehards will be back in force, along with many newcomers. Right now, I'm in So Cal working on my health again and trying ...

Re: Breaking News.... NO GRIZZLY HUNT! Grizzly Bears Protected again....

Bill, you may want to read this article at: https://www.nps.gov/yell/learn/nature/wolf-restoration.htm Hunting has never been allowed inside the Yellowstone NP boundaries. And, as far as I know, that's not going to change. Since you have a home close to Yellowstone, remember, that you'll always be a...
