Re: Finally, Yellowstone (and GT) in winter
Thanks, Dorothy. Karen and I loved reading the report! Wow, sounds like a couple of great trips. I'm glad you got to at least "see" the mountain lion. May not have been the best look, but at least you got a look. That is #1 on my bucket list for the future. We've seen the tracks, and had a couple ne...

Re: Mary Mountain Trail and Violet Hot Springs - August 11, 2019
Great report! Thanks for sharing. We have thought about trying to do this hike, but have not made the commitment to do the distance. We have only done about 13 miles max in a day and also have a bit of a concern over grizzlies in that area. Glad you got to see one from a distance. Thanks for taking ...

Thanks for taking us along. Seeing a grizzly in the backcountry is truly a magnificent experience. Glad you were safe. Paddling a canoe along the lake for that many miles is quite an undertaking. Good for you and your daughter!

Thanks for the links to the videos. I agree that the second video sure looks like Felicia and Pepper. I only saw them twice this past year, but each time was special. Hopefully, things go well for them in the future.

Max,those are some great shots. I've always had a desire to take the hot air balloon ride but never had the courage. Glad you had a chance to do it.
I love the shot of the black wolf--those eyes!

I envy you the opportunity with the otter! Thanks Rik. Yeah, we were behind a tree but with a good view about 30 feet away and it just did its thing for close to an hour. Watched it swimming and diving before it caught a huge trout and proceeded to chow the whole thing down including the tail as th...

Re: Your Best of 2019
Here are a few of our favorites. We don't match the quality of the the others that get posted here, but they're ours and it brings back such good memories that we enjoy. The fox was playing 'possum lying there so still I thought he was sick or dying. A ground squirrel nearby thought so too, a fatal ...

Re: Suggestions for winter trip
But I'm not sure I know where the Old Yellowstone Road is and how to get to it. It is actually named Old Yellowstone Trail S. It runs from the Roosevelt Arch north for about 15 miles towards the Tom Miner Basin. You can also access it from Hwy 89 at Corwin Springs (about 8 miles north of Gardiner) ...
