Re: Can't access this site from home

Rik, I really didn't appreciate your last reply or the tone, especially, when I was trying to help you and was totally sympathetic to your situation. Here's my last suggestion and then I'll be on my way. You may want to check out the current stability of Frontier as a company, if you haven't already...

Re: Mountain Lion Alert

Yep, I hear ya Mike. Last winter there was mountain lion that was seen by some of our neighbors in SoCal. It was walking right down the walking promenade that runs behind all the homes in the community. Haven't seen any bears or cougars, yet, around Nye. But I know they're around. I'll probably star...

Re: Can't access this site from home

Rik, I truly empathize with your situation. We live in a fairly remote area of MT, and we didn't even have Internet access until around 2005. That was one year after a mining facility was built about 7 miles from our house at the base of the Beartooth Mountains. The company needed high speed Interne...

Mountain Lion Alert

Thought I'd give folks a heads up that there's a mountain lion that's been roaming the local Nye, MT area. Just saw a pic of it in our local paper. The photo was taken with a trail camera, which was set up fairly close to our house (NE of Slough Creek). I haven't seen it, yet and hope that that I do...

Re: Can't access this site from home

Sorry to hear that you're still having problems, Rik. Did some checking and you may want to read this article that I found in the Tampa Bay Times. Here's the link: https://www.tampabay.com/news/business/energy/Report-Frontier-Communications-may-sell-its-Florida-operation_167162355 I think it's time ...

Re: Another Reason not to Hunt Grizzlies?

Bill, based on my own knowledge and personal experience with bears, I personally believe that most bears follow and act on their own base inner "bear" instincts rather than on smarts. When they're hungry, they'll search for food and eat. When they're going through the bear's annual life stage called...

Re: Bighorn Ram

Excellent shots, Rik! Were all your posted pix of the same ram? Judging from the number of segments on the horns of the ram in your second pic, the broomed horn tip and all the deep battle scars on the bridge of its nose and around the eyes, this fella must be at least 7 or 8 years old. Bet he's one...

Re: Bear Attack on the Aug 23rd

Thanks for the post, Jenny. A few years ago, a big cinnamon black came came out of the trees and walked up, right behind me, in the parking lot at Artists Point. I was taking pix of a bull elk. Luckily, my hubby saw the bear, waved and gave me the high alert. I've seen hundreds of bears over...

Re: Bear Attack on the Aug 23rd

Thank God the boy's parents had bear spray and knew how to use it correctly. One shot in the face and the grizzly sow took off. They were also hiking in a group of 4. So there ya go, I hope that every Yellowstone visitor and hiker will follow and take their lead. Whenever you're hiking in bear count...
