June 5-9th (trip report to come)
Long time no post, but been lurking all the while. Missing the more active days of this forum, but very appreciative of what folks have posted. I'll be headed to the park in early June---earlier than I've ever gone before. Will be curious to see what the weather does, and hopeful to see some youngli...

Re: October 6th and 7th
All of my previous golden eagle sightings in the park have been distant views of soaring birds---such as this one a few years back: https://www.flickr.com/photos/noahcomet/6128051611/in/photolist-N4iPYn-2aqQ7ct-N4iP3e-akvSfg That was my "life" golden. So this year was really a treat. There were only...

October 6th and 7th
My quest for a Great Gray Owl continues. That’s what I expected, of course, but I did dare to dream—and I did focus my efforts on trying to find one. Because of that, I suppose I didn’t devote as much time as I could have to glassing for bears and wolves, but it was still a pretty exciting day and a...

Re: Northern part of park in early Oct
Hi Max, Embarrassed that I've only just now noticed your reply! For some reason I didn't get an email notification about it and I didn't see the notification badge on my dashboard. Anyway, thank you! I will certainly be checking those spots this week when I arrive at the park. Should you (or anyone ...

Re: Northern part of park in early Oct
thanks!
I'm just assuming I'll be sticking around in the northern area and won't chance driving over the pass, even if it's open. ---Unless it's really been unseasonably warm.

Re: Northern part of park in early Oct
Thanks! My life-goal is purchase a vacation/investment property in MT/WY and visit often, especially during the winter, but for now I'm limited to when time and travel permit---often not the ideal owling times. If you do find one in late Sept in/near Gardiner, please do let me know! I have been in s...

Northern part of park in early Oct
Hi all, Been a long while since I posted, but I've been lurking. So I'm planning to be in the park for two full days in early October. I've visited that time of year before, but have always been based in Jackson, WY and have split my time between the Tetons and the southern reaches of YNP (basically...

Re: YNP and GTNP 7/15-25
Thanks for your reply. Not sure about common, but a good bet is along Spring Gulch Rd in Jackson. Watch for them along/on the road after dark. I saw 4 in one hour. That same 4-or-so-mile stretch is good for coyotes and is prime owl habitat. Seemed like one was perched on a fence post every 1000 feet...
