Forums for other National Parks?

Hey, this is a good one, albeit with not as much traffic as before the crash. But it's mostly good for Yellowstone, which is fine, but I visit a lot of parks. I know there's a great one for Glacier, even though it's not my favorite park, but there's a bunch of parks, is there one for NP's in general...

Re: Polarizer use in photography

I'm a National Parks enthusiast, which of course includes Yellowstone, who takes a lot of pictures. Many friends, family and coworkers rave about them, but I'm acutely aware I take nice snapshots, I'm not a photographer like Max, and others. But since I do little tweaking and no PS, I think many of ...

Interesting. Reading that article reminded me that I have an infrared thermometer. I should bring that with me when I come out.

I've done that. It was interesting and people around me found it fascinating. Mostly 180s-190s, IIRC. I forgot it the last two trips though.

Girl thrown by Bison

All over the 'net, for a day. A 9 year old girl was charged and thrown by a bison near Observation Point Trail. “According to witnesses, a group of approximately 50 people were within 5-10 feet of the bison for at least 20 minutes before eventually causing the bison to charge the group,” the Nationa...

Re: Thoughts/reflections on Texas parks?

Thanks Folks.

Looks like we might make a slight detour to briefly hit Guadalupe Mts, but pass on Big Bend. Doesn't sound like quite enough Wow factor for our always limited vacation time, and well out of the way.

Re: Trouble posting

I normally preview all posts and I get it when it hit Preview. But if I hit Preview again it works like it should. Since it works the second time I'd describe it as more of an inconvenience than anything else.

Re: Thoughts/reflections on Texas parks?

Thanks for the feedback. We are fond of some of the desert parks like Arches and Canyonlands, which IMO have much jawdropping beauty. Animals are of interest too, though not so much birding excepting some of the dramatic ones like Bald Eagles Landscape photography is something I do much of also. We ...

Thoughts/reflections on Texas parks?

Next summer is the south loop, we only do Yellowstone every 2 or 3 years. We've done most of the western parks, but not so far east as Guadalupe Mts or Big Bend NPs in Texas. Big Bend in particular looks interesting, but it's hard to say for sure from here and a big detour. Anyone done a trip or spe...

Yellowstone Picnic Trail

I've heard for years it's a good trail so I took it this year. Not the most impressive I've seen, but not half bad either. I took it up, then hung a left on the Specimen Ridge Trail, continued down towards, but not quite to the road and finally back to where we were parked. Odd thing was everyone wa...
