Re: Yellowstone Trip Report - June 13 thru July 12, 2019
Update on my trip report - June 13 thru July 12, 2019 I thought that I had included these observations and comments in my original trip report for Bill and Karen but they don't seem to appear. So I'll do my best to recount the details in this updated post. Hubby and I noticed a number of parking pul...

Yellowstone Trip Report - June 13 thru July 12, 2019
This was one of the most unusual Park trips I've ever had. Spent June 12th and 13th at the Mammoth CG where I shot a few elk pix but nothing special. From Mammoth, we moved over to the Slough Creek Campground on June 15th. Because of the brutal weather in the GYE last winter and spring, there was st...

Thanks for sharing your wonderful images with us and for the link to the story in the JH paper. Both were much appreciated.

Re: Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
Bill, we just got back from the Park on Saturday, July 13th. With all the rain, sleet, snow and hail that the GYE has been getting since April, our property looked like a tall grass tropical jungle by the time we got home. I'll post a full trip report next week and will include the highlights of our...

Re: Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
Bil and Karen, in my previous post, I said: "please keep in mind that it only takes one visitor to unwittingly do something stupid or make one wrong move or gesture that can turn a good bear into a bad bear." IMO, the same thing also holds true for rangers. Lord knows I've seen more than my share of...

Re: The Original Rosie Black Bear
Whoa....what a nice shot of Rosie and Boo Boo, Linda. I just came across a couple more pix of Rosie from 2004. I'll add them to my Flickr photo stream tomorrow. You'll get a kick out of one of them. Rosie was standing on her hind legs sniffing the vents at the top of the Tower vault. Someone was ins...

Re: Bear (mis)Management in Yellowstone
Were the rangers new seasonal rangers or were they full-time rangers who regularly patrol those areas? Here's why I ask. Many new seasonal rangers who are working in the Park for the first time, are not familiar with bears, let alone being familiar with specific bears. They also don't know the bear'...

Re: A few weasel shots from this spring
Wow, what a find and what wonderful captures. I think that's a "least weasel". I've only come across 2 of that particular species in the GYE over the years. One was in a pile of rocks behind of house and the other rascal I was zipping through some wild rose bushes at the Slough Creek Campground in Y...

Wow, what a find and what wonderful captures. I think that's a "least weasel" if I'm not mistaken. I've only come across 2 of that particular species in the GYE over the years. One was in a pile of small rocks behind our house and the other rascal I was zipping through some wild rose bushes at the S...
