Re: 35 SLR and digital compatability

Much probably depends on the age of the lens, the camera model, etc. Some more modern lenses that were manufactured in the last days of film SLRs (thinking specifically about my lenses for Canon a good 15+ years ago) were compatible for my transition to digital, for example, but I know that's not al...

I've completed and uploaded the photos from my May/June trip this year. A few of these moments may be familiar to those of you who followed my trip reports. Check out the full gallery of 120 new images here. A short preview is below. The action at this badger sett lasted just long enough for me to g...

Re: June 13 - July 12th

The way you worded your post you sure made it sound like the bad luck you suffered this particular season may have been due in large part to the fish issues. If you had been describing a prolonged period over the last several years, the reasoning would have made a lot more sense, but in this case yo...

Re: June 13 - July 12th

The trophic cascade caused by the introduction of the lake trout has been in effect for years. It's not something that just popped up this season... it's just that more articles are finally being written about it now. Eagles were killing cygnets going back several years (you notice the park service ...

Idaho Birds & Other New PNW Photos

I've updated my ongoing Pacific Northwest 2018 gallery with photos from my May Idaho and Montana visits, as well as a few miscellaneous shots from my recent San Juan Islands tour (where I photographed all the foxes ). View the full gallery here. Here's a short preview: A fox kit peeks out of the gra...

San Juan Island Foxes

I enjoyed a short tour locally with a client last week. We went in search of the red foxes of the San Juans Islands, and had great success. These foxes come in a variety of colors and are quite striking. The kits are on verge of becoming independent, so they were quite active for us. I've uploaded a...

Ireland 2018

I took a family trip to Ireland in late April/early May. Though it was more of a casual trip, I did bring one camera body along to capture a few of the cultural, historical and natural sites we visited. It was a fun trip, with some nice weather that allowed us to get out on foot a fair amount. It wa...

Re: Mt Washburn or Avalanche?

Can't answer your question, as I haven't done Avalanche. However, it's important to note that the park service just sent out a notice that Washburn is going to close for the rest of the season (maintenance and repair projects) around the beginning of July. Not sure if this affects your plans.
