Gear Question

This will be my first trip to Yellowstone with the Canon 600 v1. I'm trying to keep things as simple (and light) as possible, as most of my lenses and bodies will be in carry on (tripod, gimbal and other gear in check in). That said, I'm thinking of leaving my monopod behind. It's more the head that...

Re: Smugmug Acquires Flickr!

I'm curious to see where it will lead. I use Flickr primarily for nature/wildlife shots and events my son participates in. While I have all my shots backed up, it would take a lot of time to sift through them again. I enjoy using Flickr to look back at trips/events and enjoy the bit of back and fort...

Re: Owl Monday

The Great Gray is definitely on my wish list! All these shots are fantastic! We had a Short Eared hanging around this winter (first time for me): https://farm1.staticflickr.com/873/41275034532_9d11e9d352_c.jpg "What's this? What's this?" by Rick Wilhelmsen , on Flickr And we reap...

Re: Spring trip booked

Flying into SLC on May 31 and back out again on June 8. The Thursday departure was initially less expensive than a Friday or Saturday, and we wanted to be back on the Friday to see the Grandaughter over the weekend. (Priorities!) We don't enjoy the long drive to West Yellowstone on the first day, bu...

Re: Spring trip booked

Finally pulled the trigger over the weekend! Flights to Bozeman from Providence or Boston were rising instead of falling, so we booked a direct Boston to SLC flight for half the cost of flying in and out of Bozeman. We had to cancel our last 2 nights North of Gardiner and booked the last 2 for Jacks...

Re: Spring trip booked

We're tentatively looking at May 31 for 8 nights. We were in and out before Memorial Day last year and I missed the access between Canyon and Tower. That, and the added stress of the potential govt shutdown, the water main road closure in Canyon and last minute road closures due to snow made for a b...

Re: Vacation ideas

I'll be following this thread for ideas as well! We love Yellowtone and the Tetons, but feel we need to see more. I've heard Glacier can be crowded, which seems odd to me knowing how Yellowstone can get. We are thinking of another redo by hitting the Southwest again. We did ABQ for the balloon fiest...
