Clear water pools

I haven't posted any photos yet from my trip yet so I started going through them and picking out a few. I really loved the clear water pools. The color and the clarity of the water was just amazing. I'm going to start with just one to test the size. There seems to be a max width here of 858 pixels. ...

Re: A few days of fun in the park

I always take a GPS with me on my trips and have it continuously log my track. This is my track through the Upper Geyser Basin one day. The yellow line with the black dots is my track. Each black dot has a timestamp that I can cross reference with the times of my pictures to help me keep track of wh...

Re: A few days of fun in the park

I think I see that road now. You must be referring to the road that encircles the Upper Terraces area. I was not on that road. We just parked at the entrance of that road and walked up into the Main Terrace area. That is definitely on my list for my next visit.

Re: A few days of fun in the park

Those are fantastic images!. I'm not sure what road you are referring to. I did visit the Mammoth area but was with some other people at the time so wasn't able to spend as much time in that area as I normally would have. I had to kinda go with the flow. Looking at the map now I see a one way road l...

A few days of fun in the park

I'm back from my Yellowstone trip and had a great time. Haven't had a chance to go through all my pictures yet but will try to post a few when I get a chance to go through them all. Geothermal features were my primary interest in visiting the park so that is where I spent most of my time. Visited ma...

Re: Food in the backpack

It's getting closer and I'm getting excited. One week left and I'm hitting the road. Already started gathering my gear. I'm not doing a lot of planning this trip. Just going to discover and explore things as I find them. I'm confident that I'll find plenty to keep me busy. Then I'll use this trip to...

Re: Food in the backpack

Yep I know all about the dangers of Giardia. Never had it myself, I have a good filter and always use it. What I was more concerned about was contaminates from geothermal sources. Stuff that could be dissolved in water and not filterable. The Giardia bug is filterable. I'll talk to the park rangers ...

Re: Food in the backpack

Great! Zip lock freezer bags is what I always use anyway so I guess I'm set. I was just thinking about bear noses and whether they could smell and be attracted to the food even though it was sealed in freezer bags. Just thinking ahead. And like you I also use them for camera gear. Was also thinking ...

Food in the backpack

I'll be coming to the park soon for my first real visit. Was there once when I was a kid but don't remember much from then. I like doing day hikes on my trips to other parks and would like to do the same in Yellowstone. No overnighters this trip. I have my bear spray already. I've been thinking abou...

Re: Yellowstone Trip 6/3 - 6/8

Brad these are fantastic photos. My first trip is coming soon and I'll be taking pictures but none will compare with yours. I''l give it my best shot though. Hopefully I'll have a few that are worthy of posting.
