Great images! I just found my first NHO in Sax-Zim Bog last week. They are cool. Once I get set-up to post images here I will.

Rick, did you also make it up to Minnesota? Nice find.

Yeah I spent five days there. Honestly, it wasn't a very rewarding trip. That NHO and one other were the only owls I saw, after being assured over and over how Sax-Zim Bog in February was can't-miss for great greys.

I was there on Jan 31, Feb 1, and Feb 3. I was fortunate enough to find 4 GGO's, the NHO, a Boreal Owl and a variety of little birds. I was disappointed we didn't see any mammals.I was hoping for Pine Martin and Porcupine. I have been seeing they have been scarce since then.

Yeah I didn't see any other owls, just the NHO, despite spending hours out there every single day.
I did see a fox, a couple deer, a muskrat and a coyote. (Didn't get pics of the coyote though.)

Bummer. I've also heard about the GGOs and the Boreals (the latter of which would be the main draw for me), which may draw me there some day. As much as it would be nice to wait for an irruption year, I imagine it would get a little insane then too.
