Great shots of beautiful animals! You certainly have the skill and perseverance for being in the right place at the right time.

As always, beautiful shots, Rik! I got a few pix of a good-size griz swimming across Buffalo Creek in mid June. But it didn't have a cub tagging along. A few campers mentioned, though, that they had seen a griz with a cub further up the Creek, towards the 1st meadow. Might be worth checking them out on your fall trip.

Refresh my memory, where's Buffalo Creek again?

Rik, you can see Buffalo Creek from the Slough Creek Campground. Buffalo Creek (a tributary) flows into Slough Creek. The convergence point can be seen from Site #7. Good spot to photograph wildlife safely. There's also a large open meadow on the other side of Slough Creek that's visible from Sites #4 and 5. Wildlife, especially, bears often wander down from the Meadows on either side of Slough Creek, looking for food. Rather than walk through the dense forest and thorny brush, they often use the hiking trails. They're usually pigging out in Sept/Oct so please stay on high alert. In years past, I've often seen bears wandering through the large open meadow or in the adjacent woods. From there, they'll swim cross Buffalo Creek and will sometimes wander on to Little America. Was thinking that perhaps your grizzly pair might be in the Slough Creek area this fall since it's good foraging habitat for bears. Have a good trip, Rik. We've had a number of fires in MT this summer and one or more may have pushed the bears and other wildlife further south and into the Slough Creek area. Looking forward to seeing your trip report and pix.
