Kind of a strange day. I saw pretty much of nothing, critter-wise, until afternoon, when I kept running into does with their fawns -- just below the Yellowstone Picnic Area, at the entrance to the Tower Ranger station and near the Cascade Creek picnic area.
There were about 8 of them near the ranger station, and six of them crossed the road, then several crossed back. One of the fawns very nearly got hit by a truck towing a stock trailer -- the guy didn't slow down much despite all the cars stopped there, and the fawn crossed right in front of him. The truck stopped about 2 feet from the fawn.
I found six pronghorns at Rainy Lake, but as soon as I got out of the car, they went into the trees, so that didn't make much of a picture. Other than that, the only animal I saw was 3 sage hens up a tree in dark shade.
Hope you like mule deer.
