Just missed a pouncing coyote near Norris, just missed a Great Gray Owl in the open fields about a mile west of Canyon, just west of Cascade Creek.
I was going to go out to Lamar, but a little delay first. About 50 bison were coming toward us on the Yellowstone River bridge, stopping all traffic. Apparently the migration west for winter is beginning. Just after that group cleared the bridge, another 30 or so came down a trail and onto the bridge -- this group didn't know that it was being stalked by Ranger John in his personal little white van (upper right in second picture). John drove on the wrong side of the road across the bridge and hustled the bison along so that traffic could flow again.
Sightings of anything but bison were scarce for me after that.
Found a four-point buck hidden in bushes near the Tower store. Three hours later, he was still there -- hadn't moved at all.
Heading home, I crossed Dunraven summit to the south find a number of cars parked and people glassing the hill. The black bear sow and two cubs were in some trees near the Mount Washburn trail. A long way off, but I did for a second see the two cubs, each at the top of a different tree, and later I saw one black dot on the ground. I suppose it was mom. Too far for pictures.
Plus a couple of West Yellowstone sunsets from tonight and I think Monday, both taken with my cellphone.
