2019 Reservations

Post by Steve in the Library »

My wife mentioned a trip to the Park for our anniversary next year. I thought, "well, OK," and looked at the Xanterra site about reservations. We've always been Canyon people, either the campground or cabins, but Roosevelt has been in my thoughts lately. I was stunned to see that it is completely booked for the entire season. I was looking for a 6-day block, so that might have skewed the results, but then I looked at Canyon -- wide open. I'll have to do some more looking and talking with my other half, but I have to say this seemed really odd. It's always seemed like Canyon books quick.

Depends on type of room. For example shared bath has many open dates.

They have built several new lodges at Canyon and tore down all the old cabins (except the Westerns). The new lodges are huge with lots of expensive rooms. Roosevelt still has the old affordable cabins and because they are affordable they fill up fast.

Yeah, I couldn't believe it when I saw them this year. I knew there was one or two up, but there's a whole flock of them now, 7, 8, 9? Perhaps it's for improved density, but they're awfully expensive, IIRC I looked at them after I got home and they were in the $250-350 range per night. Out of my budget. To say I was aghast is an understatement.
