Mid June/Early July Park Trip in the Works

Post by yellvet »

Thought I'd let members know that I'll be in the Park from the latter part June until the 15th of July. This marks my 40th year camping at Slough Creek. So if you're into wildflowers and wildlife, I hope you'll stop by and say hi. I'd be happy to help you identify some of the spectacular wildflowers and local wildlife families that I've found at/near the SC campground over the years. Over the weekend, I saw a photo of our car and trailer posted on Flickr. The pic was taken at Slough Creek last June by the NPS photographer. I didn't even know that the picture was being taken. It's the last picture in the NPS Slough Creek Campground photo album. Here's the link: https://www.flickr.com/photos/yellowsto ... 230921196/
As a general rule, I usually don't let people know when, where or how to find me when I'm in the Park because I like to photograph wildlife privately and we've had problems in the past with people following us. Looks like my cover is blown for this summer, so thought I'd make the trip announcement myself. Might be able to make a short trip in May depending on the weather. It sure would be nice to meet and greet some of the Forum folks.

Thanks, Rik. If the weather is half-way decent and the roads are dry, I'll try to make a short trip to the Park while you're there. Can't give you any exact dates, though. I usually have to watch the weather and road conditions before I can go anywhere. However, I'd really like to meet the photographer who creates all the stunning images. In the off season, I usually camp at the Mammoth CG on the upper tier...good vantage point for taking pix of all the elk newborns and all the spring wildflowers. If you're going to be staying at the CG or are in the area, be sure to stop and say hi. Just look for the the small white FTC van with the personalized MT Yellowstone license plate. I'm the pipsqueak who owns it. :)

Sounds good, Rik. Hopefully, the local weather and road conditions will cooperate so I can make the trip.
