Two adjacent buildings complete the visitor center complex. Both were built as satellite theaters, but are used today for a variety of purposes. One is a multi-purpose building that is utilized as a Warming Hut in the winter. The other is occasionally used for presentations.
The combination ranger station, backcountry office, and clinic are located across the west parking lot from the visitor center. This facility also houses the office of the District Naturalist and the district library.
The Yellowstone Park Foundation is spearheading a major private fundraising campaign to build a new visitor education center at Old Faithful, with exhibits and interactive media focusing on the wonders of Yellowstone’s 10,000 geothermal features.
