Grant Village Dining Room

Perched on the southwestern shore of Yellowstone Lake, the Grant Village Dining Room offers one of the most serene dining experiences in the park. Built in 1984, the facility lacks the rustic “parkitecture” of the Old Faithful Inn but makes up for it with clean, modern lines and floor-to-ceiling windows that provide sweeping, “priceless” views of the water.

2026 Seasonal Information

For the 2026 season, the dining room is scheduled to be open from May 29 through October 11.

  • Operating Hours: * Breakfast: 6:30 AM – 10:00 AM
    • Lunch: 11:30 AM – 2:30 PM (Note: Lunch service typically ends for the season in late September).
    • Dinner: 5:00 PM – 10:00 PM
  • Reservations: Required for dinner only. Advance reservations are open to in-park lodging guests up to 60 days prior to arrival. Non-lodging guests can check the host stand for same-day availability. Breakfast and lunch are first-come, first-served.

Atmosphere & “The Seven Stool Saloon”

While the exterior features a bold red-metal and stone façade, the interior is surprisingly warm, with wood paneling and geometric chandeliers that give it a “posh cabin” feel. Adjacent to the host stand is the Seven Stool Saloon, a tiny, intimate bar perfect for a pre-dinner cocktail or a local craft beer.

Menu Highlights

The menu at Grant Village leans toward upscale American comfort food, with a focus on sustainable ingredients.

  • Dinner Favorites: Look for regional specialties like sautéed trout, bison burgers, and prime rib. Other popular items include wild game sliders and huckleberry-glazed chicken.
  • Unique Seafood: Due to its lakeside location, the menu often features seafood options not found elsewhere in the park, such as smoked trout dip or calamari strips.
  • Breakfast Buffet: Many visitors recommend the breakfast buffet for its variety and efficiency before a long day of sightseeing.

Pro-Tips for Visitors

  • The View: Request a window seat when checking in at the host stand. Even if there is a short wait, the sight of the sun setting over the West Thumb of Yellowstone Lake is worth it.
  • Location Advantage: Grant Village is equidistant between Old Faithful and Lake Village, making this dining room an excellent “middle-ground” stop if you are touring the lower loop.
  • Alternative Dining: If the Dining Room is fully booked, the Grant Village Lake House Restaurant is a short walk away and offers a more casual, first-come-first-served menu with equally stunning views.
